Lifeguard box Aloha
All things ocean .This lifeguard box is perched above La Jolla's Boomer Beach, which is known for having strong waves and a strong riptide. It's for in the event that lifeguards need additional help.
Passers-by used to be able to call from it, but it's now locked. I don't know if it's still in use really (do you?).
However, on the front of the box is the inscription David C. Freeman, a championship bodysurfer, who grew up in La Jolla and died tragically in 1994. I read he died in the ocean of an unknown heart defect and that locals thought this lifeguard box -- which at the time was rusty and in need of a refresh -- would be the perfect way to commemorate him and things he loved.
